What Men Are Saying:
“Without this school, I'd be back in prison”
“I’m dealing with my deepest fears with the help of people who care”
“They don't focus on who I was but on what I can be through Jesus Christ”
The Program: The School of Christ men's residential addiction recovery center provides:
- Daily classes on handling stress without turning to alcohol and drugs
- Individual and family counseling to teach new ways of relating
- Interaction with others in a supportive community
- Work enterprises such as our chemical-free garden to develop new work ethics
- Help in establishing new goals that lead to transformation
The Facility: The 4200 square foot residence center is located on Mullan Road, six miles west of Reserve Street. Built on 1.6 acres, the center provides living space for up to eight men. In addition, the facility houses a workout room, a classroom, administrative offices, and spaces to operate several business enterprises that provide work experience for the men as well as supplemental support revenues for Missoula 3:16. In this quiet, rural setting, men who are serious about changing their lives receive the support they need to start anew.
The Opportunity: A capital campaign is underway to raise $300,000 to purchase the School of Christ facility and to make a few property improvements. A lease-purchase agreement is good through October 2010, and we have the opportunity to purchase the property for $287,000. In August 2009, the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust awarded Missoula 3:16 a matching grant of $143,500, which will cover half the purchase price. As of this writing, we’ve raised approximately $78,000 toward the $150,000 required to match the $143,500 grant, and we hope to have all of our funds collected by October 2010 in order to purchase the facility. Please consider a donation to this project, which provides tremendous benefits to our community. One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
